Coaching for New Directors of Development

For its most recent initiative, the Capacity Collaborative is funding coaching for 10 development directors that are new to their roles.

A newly hired Director of Development is usually expected to provide a critically needed boost for an organization's fundriasing performance. The Coaching for New Directors of Development program is designed to help new hires achieve the necesary momentum in their first critical months on the job.

Ten applicants to the program will be selected for this fully funded program. The program is sponsored by the Capacity Collaborative in partnership with Consulting Within Reach (CWR), a leading firm serving nonprofits in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. CWR will provide a series of coaching sessions to deliver an organizational assessment and recommended next steps. The end result is to equip the Director of Development with an initial road map on how to build fundraising capacity in the short and long term.

To qualify for the Coaching for New Directors of Development program, a nonprofit must meet the following criteria:

  • Directors who may have held a similar position at another agency are still eligible for this program.
  • Operating budget of over $500,000
  • Capacity for implementing recommendations that emerge from the coaching

To apply, the agency's Executive Director should fill out this brief online form (it should take only a few minutes).
